The Pirate Tower is a Common rarity Tower Card. The Pirate Tower hurls bombs with a big blast radius (Area of Effect) making it very effective against mobs of enemies. It deals physical damage. Pirate Towers are first rewarded in the game by completing "Frosthome" with one Star.

Abilities and Upgrades[]

Battle Upgrades can be improved after being placed on the battle field. Upgrading abilities during a battle costs Mana. As your tower increases in level, your abilities and upgrades can also increase in power, but at a higher Mana cost. Not all abilities change or upgrade with level.

DPS for this tower is tricky to calculate. Once upgraded with Spoiled Rum, the Tower's attack alternates between a Black Powder Bomb (BPB) which causes immediate physical damage and a Spoiled Rum (SR) Bomb which causes fire damage over time. The two upgrades do not affect one another.

Defensive Strategy[]

Pirate Tower is a slow shooter with the ability to take down large groups of slow enemies. With 2 upgrades available that strengthen the damage output, Pirate Tower when fully upgraded can deal devastating splash damage to every unit in a small area.

A well-known tactic is to pair Pirate with Slowdown Tower, however, in several cases, we don't need to put Slowdown ahead of Pirate. For instance, when fighting in Undead Land, where the enemies are already very slow in movement, Pirate can effectively work without the need for Slowdown.

The Pirate Tower does physical damage, and has relatively low overall DPS, so it's not a good choice against heavily armored troops. In this situation, combining Pirate with Lightning Tower, or Crossbow (magical attack) can create a good formation to terminate all kinds of enemies.

Quite likely the programmers made an error in giving Black Powder Bomb a Level 8 upgrade instead of Spoiled Rum. As can be seen in the DPS chart above, this changes the DPS dynamic for Level 8 and Level 9 Towers where the Spoiled Rum upgrade is not worth it.
